Apple HomeView: why you can't buy it in Belgium

The new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 are coming to Belgium and the Netherlands, but without Siri AI.

On 13 October, Apple unveiled three new devices for the living room: Apple HomeView, a smart display for the home, a new Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini 2. If you live in Belgium or the Netherlands, read the small print: one of the three won't be sold here, and the feature Apple talks about most doesn't work here for now.

In short: Apple HomeView won't be sold in the European Union. The new Apple TV 4K (€349) and HomePod mini 2 (€169) are coming to Belgium and the Netherlands, but without Siri AI, the new version of Siri. What's left is still a solid step forward.

What is Apple HomeView?

HomeView is Apple's answer to the smart displays from Google and Amazon. It's a 7-inch display on a dome-shaped speaker, with a hinge so you can tilt the screen. You use it to control your lights, thermostat, locks and roller shutters, view up to nine camera feeds at once, and it listens for the sound of a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm so it can alert your iPhone.

It's also a device for calls and listening. A 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage keeps you in frame during FaceTime, and the speaker plays music in Spatial Audio. HomeView recognises up to six members of the household by their face and shows each of them their own calendar, messages and reminders. That personal content only appears when the person's iPhone or iPad is nearby and was unlocked shortly before. There's also a version you can hang on the wall.

At the heart of HomeView is Siri AI, a completely new version of Siri that holds a natural conversation, answers questions about current events and can work with your personal data. In the US, HomeView costs $299, for both the tabletop and the wall-mounted version.

Why HomeView isn't coming to Belgium

Apple is clear about it in its press release: HomeView will not be sold in the European Union. Pre-orders opened on 13 October in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the US. Singapore follows on 15 October, and South Africa through authorised resellers. Everywhere, HomeView goes on sale from 13 November.

"Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU." Apple, press release of 13 October 2026

The link is obvious. HomeView relies on Siri AI, and Siri AI relies on your iPhone for personal context. As long as Siri AI isn't available on the iPhone in the EU, much of what HomeView does is left with nothing to work with. Apple says it is working with the EU on a solution. In the press release, Apple gives no reason why Siri AI isn't coming here, and no date either.

You could bring a HomeView back from London, but we'd advise against it. You won't have a Belgian warranty or support, Siri AI only works in English, and without Siri AI on your iPhone you lose the personal context. We can't confirm exactly how the device behaves here.

The new Apple TV 4K: faster and smarter

The Apple TV 4K (4th generation) is coming to Belgium and the Netherlands, at €349 in both countries, with the new Siri Remote in the box. You can order it now, and it's in stores from 13 November.

What's new, in Belgium too

  • ✓A19 chip: according to Apple, up to 50% faster CPU and up to twice the graphics performance of the previous generation.
  • ✓AV1 decoder: 4K streams need less bandwidth.
  • ✓Three microphones: use Siri without the remote, even while something is playing. Dutch is among the supported languages.
  • ✓Find My for the Siri Remote: track it down to the centimetre with a recent iPhone. Anyone who has ever dug between the sofa cushions knows what that's worth.
  • ✓Surround sound with four speakers: two HomePods at the front, two at the back. Apple TV works out where each speaker is and adjusts the timing and volume itself.
  • ✓Thread: the Apple TV also acts as a home hub for your smart devices.

What's missing here

On the Apple TV too, Siri AI is the headline feature, with full-screen recommendations and questions about what you're watching. It requires an iPhone or iPad with Siri AI in the home, and that isn't available in the EU for now. So in Belgium you talk to the familiar Siri, though hands-free.

For comparison: the previous generation is still listed in Apple's refurbished store, with a previous price of €189 for the 128 GB model with Wi-Fi and Ethernet. So the new Apple TV 4K has become quite a bit more expensive.

HomePod mini 2: small, but smarter

The HomePod mini 2 costs €169 in Belgium and the Netherlands and is in stores from 30 October. It comes in five colours: pink, green, blue, white and midnight.

  • ✓S10 chip: continuously tunes the sound to the music that's playing.
  • ✓Sound Glow: the top lights up and pulses along with the bass and treble, in the colours of the album artwork.
  • ✓Speaker for your Mac: one or two HomePod mini 2 speakers as the default output for films, games and calls. This needs a Mac with Wi-Fi 6E or later.
  • ✓Sound recognition: smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, with a notification on your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Apple itself warns that you shouldn't rely on it in situations where you could be harmed: it doesn't replace your alarm.

Siri AI will come to the HomePod mini 2 in a later software update, in English first. Here too, whoever manages the home needs an iPhone or iPad with Siri AI. So not in the EU, for now.

What does this mean for your office?

A smart display for the kitchen isn't a business investment, but the Apple TV 4K is. In a meeting room, AirPlay lets you share your Mac or iPhone screen wirelessly, without cables or adapters. The faster chip and the AV1 decoder keep the picture smoother on a busy Wi-Fi network.

Never leave an Apple TV in the meeting room unmanaged on your network. Manage it with MDM, just like your Macs and iPhones: that way you lock down its settings, limit who can share to it and keep it up to date. A HomePod mini has no place in a room where confidential conversations take place.
